There’s nothing quite like the feeling of having your artwork recognized, and today, I’m celebrating a small but meaningful victory—one of my colored pencil pieces has been accepted into Ann Kullberg’s Coloured Pencil Hidden Treasures! 🎉 While I can’t reveal which piece made it in just yet, I’m absolutely thrilled and grateful for this opportunity.

Who Is Ann Kullberg?
For those who may not be familiar, Ann Kullberg is a highly respected colored pencil artist, author, and educator who has dedicated her career to promoting and supporting colored pencil artists worldwide. She has written numerous books on colored pencil techniques and runs various workshops, online courses, and publications that help artists refine their skills.
One of her amazing projects is Coloured Pencil Hidden Treasures, an annual publication that showcases incredible artwork from colored pencil artists across the globe. It’s a juried collection, meaning each piece is carefully selected from many talented submissions. To have my work chosen is an honor and a huge confidence boost!
The Power of Positive Feedback in Art & Mental Health
Art has always been a source of healing for me. It’s more than just putting pencil to paper—it’s a way to express emotions, process thoughts, and find peace in the creative process. Like many artists, I struggle with self-doubt and sometimes question whether my work is “good enough.” But moments like this—when a piece is accepted into a prestigious publication—remind me why I create in the first place.
Receiving positive recognition for your work, whether from a publication, a fellow artist, or even a kind comment on social media, can be incredibly uplifting. It’s not about seeking validation but about knowing that what you create resonates with others. For those of us who deal with anxiety or other mental health challenges, this kind of encouragement can be a much-needed reminder that our efforts matter.
Art has been my refuge during difficult times, and achievements like this fuel my passion to keep creating, not just for myself but for others who might find comfort in my work. If you’re an artist struggling with self-doubt, keep going—your creativity is valuable, and you never know who it might inspire.
Just Have a Go—You Never Know Where It Might Lead
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in my creative journey is that sometimes, you just have to let go and create without overthinking. Not every piece needs to be a masterpiece. Not every sketch needs to be shared. Sometimes, it’s about the process, the joy of watching something take shape, and the escape that art provides.
If I had hesitated or held myself back from submitting my work, I wouldn’t be celebrating this moment today. So, my advice to fellow artists—or anyone with a creative passion—is this: just have a go. Let your creativity flow, follow those little sparks of inspiration, and see where they take you. You never know what opportunities might come your way, what connections you might make, or how your art might touch someone else’s heart.
So pick up your pencils, your paints, or whatever medium speaks to you, and create without fear. You might just surprise yourself. 💙
Thank you to everyone who supports my journey. I can’t wait to share more about this soon! ✏️✨
