 About our Spotlight Artist

sunset painting called Rise now sold

I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. When I was little I painted a portrait of the family dog. It was a gift for Christmas and I clearly remember how shocked they were. They loved it. Every year from then on I created a piece of artwork for them and went on to produce paintings for family friends.  My ambition was to become a famous artist with an even more famous moustache.

As I've got older I have continued to draw and paint, regularly sitting and drawing to pass the time. I will admit I no longer want a spectacular moustache but I still want to make art.

My style has changed dramatically. I started with trying to reproduce photo's I had taken and focused hard trying to add detail and realism. I was so busy learning that I didn't enjoy the process. I doubted every thing I did and found myself not reaching for a paintbrush.

Recently I stopped to think seriously about what I wanted from my art and how I could achieve it. I remembered back to my school days and learning about abstract artists such as Jackson Pollock. I decided to give abstract a try and my passion was born.  Colour has the power to brighten a mood, raise a smile and change an outlook. Using vibrant paints and not overthinking the process allowed me to enjoy my art.  It is inspiring to paint outside, soaking in natures colour. I start with a loose idea of the finished piece and then simply let myself go. Adding paint and patterns that make me happy.  I finish each day happy and smiling and hope that my art makes others smile.

Am I ambitious? Yes but not because I want to be a famous artist. I want people to smile at my art. I want to continue being able to enjoy it. I want to live my best life.

I hope you love my art, and you smile.

Thanks for the support
